For the artist and equality campaigner, staging the event had an extra special meaning. Rosaleen said, “The project is the culmination of over three years of enjoyable but hard work, painting a range of personalities, all of whom kindly allowed me to paint their portrait. The NSPCC Cymru was the charity I chose to support when I was High Sheriff of South Glamorgan and I am delighted that Clarendon Fine Art Gallery agreed to stage the exhibition and for such a good cause.”

The eleven portraits on display were created from a wide palette of iconic people, all sharing a strong connection to Wales and all brilliantly captured by the talented Rosaleen’s paintbrush. From Royal Family representation in the form of past and present Princes of Wales– His Majesty King Charles lll and HRH Prince William the Prince of Wales, through to high profile personalities of stage and screen, the arts, the media i.e. Dame Sian Phillips, Michael Ball, Michael Sheen, Trystan Gravelle, Rob Brydon, Lewis Vaughan Jones, Mark Lewis Jones, Russell T Davies and from the world of sport, former Welsh national rugby team player, Louis Rees-Zammit.

The funds raised by the event totalled over £2,900 from donations and sales of prints reproduced from the portraits created by the artist. Hannah Pitt, NSPCC Cymru Community Fundraising Manager South Wales said, “We are incredibly grateful to Rosaleen for choosing to hold the exhibition in aid of NSPCC Cymru. The money raised will help us to continue our vital work, keeping children safe from abuse and neglect.”

Local media also played its part in raising the profile of the event, with ITV Wales News broadcasting the launch and The Cardiff Herald also running a feature story trailing the exhibition.

For Rosaleen, the exhibition proved to be a resounding success. Not only did it provide her with a highly visible platform to showcase her work and talent but importantly, it also enabled her to use that opportunity to lend her support to her favourite charity.

Truly inspirational Rosaleen.
