Suzanna Nelson was born on 21 September 1984 in St Albans.
Her life took a dramatic turn in 2005, when she sustained a spinal cord injury at C5/6 in a traffic accident at the age of 20. As a result of a cyst on the spine and the resulting surgeries, her injury spread to the 4th vertebra. She lost a large part of her arm function and the little independence she still had.
Before her accident, Suzanne Nelson was known for her love of adventure and passion for horses. She retained this mentality and continued to experience a variety of adaptive activities, including adaptive skiing, indoor parachuting, ultralight flying and sailing. In addition, she participates in voluntary work.
Despite the many challenges that shape her life, including anxiety states, depression and anorexia, Suzanna Nelson found a path to self-discovery through the lockdown. She discovered her artistic side and began to paint and draw. Therapy brought her into contact with the VDMFK.
